Careers/Skills Development Scotland

Having a career or job that you love depends upon much more than simply being in the right place at the right time. Skills Development Scotland can provide you with the advice and guidance necessary to get the right job or course.

Skills Development Scotland provides a career service in all Scottish schools offering the new modernised service, where our young people are encouraged to develop career management skills for life. There are many ways to access career support and the key tool to help develop these essential skills is the My World of Work website:

www.myworldofwork.co.uk

My World of Work allows users to build a profile using tools such as My Strengths, My DNA and My CV.   Other tools include Careers A-Z, My Interview, Courses and Job Search. On the site it is possible to use web chat to speak to an adviser and there is a low cost number 0808 100 1050 to call or you can contact the local number which is 01387-272500.

A Career Adviser is available in school to provide intensive one to one support if needed, a drop-in service and group work, all aimed at helping individuals develop career management skills to allow them to navigate a volatile labour market and the huge range of learning opportunities on offer.
