INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

The Parentzone website is an excellent source of information for parents about all aspects of Curriculum for Excellence. It is easy to navigate around and is well organised under clear headings. It includes links to four recently commissioned short films about the impact and benefits of CfE.

In recent months three parent information leaflets have been produced about the new curriculum. These are:

• Great Learning in Scotland: Explains the new curriculum, key benefits for young people and examples of the different routes pupils can take in their learning
• Broad General Education in the Secondary School: explains the curriculum up to the end of S3, answers frequently asked questions including what children learn, how their learning is assessed, understanding learners’ progress and making choices for qualifications in the senior school (S4-S6)
• The Curriculum for Excellence Learner Journey: A simple summary of the new curriculum from 3-18.
