S6 Involvement

In S6, we provide students at St Joseph’s College with a wide variety of opportunities and delegate a number of responsibilities to enable them to get the most out of their final year at school. As well as the important academic aspect of this year, our focus turns increasingly towards developing important skills such as organisation, team work and leadership. In addition, central to our Catholic ethos is an emphasis on service to others both in the school community and beyond. Pupils are given the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of projects, activities and schemes with an expectation that they participate in at least two of the following:

  • Breakfast Club
  • Caritas Awards
  • Charities’ Committee
  • Classroom Buddies
  • Community Support
  • Events Management
  • Homework Help
  • Library Support
  • MV Awards
  • Organising whole school events
  • Paired Reading
  • Peer Support
  • Reading and Scribing
  • Silver Surfers
  • Supporting our associate primary schools
  • Work Experience/Shadowing
  • Yearbook
  • Young Enterprise

Those pupils who are looking to go to university may also be offered the chance to take part in the “Step Up” programme which helps them with their application and preparation for university.
